What a stunning show, Everybody’s Talking about Jamie at the Peacock Theatre, London – My Review

On Sunday 3rd March I saw the evening performance of Everybody’s Talking about Jamie at the Peacock theatre in London.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is a stage musical centred around coming-of-age, with score by Dan Gillespie Sells and book and lyrics by Tom MacRae. The musical is inspired by the 2011 British television documentary Jamie: Drag Queen at 16 directed by Jenny Popplewell. The musical follows and is based upon the true-life story of 16-year-old British schoolboy Jamie Campbell, as he overcomes prejudice and bullying to step out of the darkness and become a drag queen.

This show is a reminder to every part of the LGBTQIA+ community that they are not alone and there are many who will always stand up for their rights to be who they truly are.

The Cast comprised of Finton Flynn as Jamie New, Georgina Hagen as Margaret New, Shobna Gulati, Tania Palamathanan as Pritti Pasha, Giovanna Fletcher as Miss Hedge, John Partridge as Hugo / Loco Chanelle, Anthony Gyde (KY Kelly) as Laika Virgin, Garry Lee as Sandra Bollock, David Mcnair as Tray Sophisticay, Akshay St Clair as Jamies Dad, Jordan Ricketts as Dean, Joshian Angelo mana as Cy, Liv Ashman as Vicki, Rhiannon Bacchus as Fatima, Geoff Berrisford as Sayid,, Jessica Daugirda as Bee, Annabelle Laing as Becca, Luca Moscardini as Levi and Thomas Walton as Mickey

For me the outstanding performances were Georgina Hagen as Margaret New,  Shobha Gulati as Ray, Finton Flynn as Jamie New and John Partridge as Hugo/ Loco Chanelle. All the vocals performed were outstanding and turned the musical numbers in show stopping hits. John Partridge’s Drag transformation into Loco Chanelle was stunning.

I now consider this show as one of my favourites even though This marks the first time I’ve seen the show, however i’ve seen the film version over 5 times.

Everybody’s Talking about Jamie will be touring the UK until July 2024.
